PIA pilots, cabin crew won’t fast in Ramazan
Govt forms fact-finding panel to probe ex-minister Sarwar's 'irresponsible statement'
The manager of the PIA’s flight safety department has advised pilots and cabin crew members of the national airline to abstain from fasting during flights and travel through the holy month of Ramazan.
According to a circular, the PIA officer has instructed the pilots and cabin crew members to strictly follow the official guidelines issued for the month.
The circular emphasised that fasting while flying was technically feasible, but it introduced a factor of risk as it may reduce the safety margin as per corporate safety management and the aircrew medical centre’s advice.
Fasting during flight can potentially reduce alertness and impair decision-making abilities that could lead to serious consequences in emergency situations, the circular concluded.
