‘Complete lawlessness and bandits’ rule in Karachi’
There is a complete lawlessness and bandits’ rule in Pakistan’s commercial capital.
“Loadshedding has intensified with the start of summer season,” Jamaat-e-Islami’s city chief told a news conference at the party’s headquarters Idara Noor-e-Haq today.
Munam Zafar further said that power cuts of even 10 to 14 hours is being carried out in some areas of the metropolis.
He said that the system of the water and sewerage corporation has got deteriorated. Even if K4 project is built, it will take three years to get water, the newly-elected city chief of JI said.
Last week, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman appointed Munam Zafar as the party’s interim chief of Karachi.
Hafiz Naeem appointed Munam Zafar, who was also the party’s candidate from NA-247 in the recent general elections, as the Karachi chief after consultation with Sindh Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mehanti.
Munam Zafar was serving as general secretary of JI’s Karachi during the tenure of Hafiz Naeemur Rehman as the city chief. Munam Zafar has also served as Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba’s Karachi president.
Earlier this month, Jamaat-e-Islami has named Hafiz Naeem as its new Ameer. He succeeded Sirajul Haq, who stepped down after recent general elections.
JI secured no seats in the National Assembly and got only two seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly.
Naeem, who won the Member Provincial Assembly seat in the recently concluded polls, relinquished his PS-129 seat after alleged rigging.
“Worst rigging was made in recent elections,” he had said, voicing his party’s reservations over the results, which, he claimed, were marred by manipulation and unfair allocation of seats.
Expressing concerns over the integrity of the electoral process, Naeemur Rehman called upon the Election Commission of Pakistan to release results as per Form-45, urging for transparency and fairness. His principled stance was not just a political maneuver but a demonstration of moral courage and commitment to democratic values.
