Akmal wants Shehzad back in Pakistan squad
Former wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has backed batter Ahmed Shehzad for Pakistan squad stating that he should be given chance in the upcoming T20I series.
Pakistan are set to play seven T20Is – three against Ireland and four against England – before the ICC T20I World Cup scheduled to be played in the USA and the West Indies.
After the announcement of the Pakistan squad for the aforementioned tours, Akmal took to X and called for inclusion of his former teammate.
“If the team was to be formed only for the series against Ireland and England, then players like Ahmed Shehzad could have been given the opportunity to play.”
Akmal was of the view that players like Sahibzada Farhan, Muhammad Ali, Usama Mir, and Aamer Jamal could have also been given the opportunity to play.
Earlier today, it was announced that Pakistan batter Babar Azam will lead an 18-member squad with Hasan Ali making a surprise return alongside Haris Rauf and Azam Khan.
