8th Muharram’s main procession being taken out from Karachi’s Nishtar Park today

The main procession of 8th of Muharram is being taken out from Nishtar Park today, which will terminate after reaching Iranian Imambargah Kharadar through its designated routes.
Strict measures have been taken for the security of the procession, while the mobile phone service has started to be suspended on the main procession routes. Apart from this, Karachi Police have issued a security plan related to Muharram.
The spokesperson of Karachi Police has said that 17, 947 police officers and personnel will be deployed for security during Muharram.
He added that 1,049 processions and 4,664 majalis will be held. 4, 392 officials will perform security duty for majalis while 11, 628 officials will perform duties for processions.
The spokesperson further said that 1, 927 officers and jawans will perform security duties at the most sensitive places.
He added that 987 traffic police officers and jawans will be present for Muharram duty.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has announced that the People’s Bus Service will be partially suspended in Karachi on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. The bus service going to the Superhighway from Malir Halt will continue.
Measures are being taken for the security of the main processions of Muharram in Karachi as all the streets, passages, roads on the routes of the procession are being sealed.
According to the police, all the relevant streets and roads are being closed by placing containers and other barriers. Soldier Bazar, MA Jinnah Road, Saddar, Regal Chowk have been sealed.
Apart from this, the streets of Tibet Center, Jama Cloth Market, Light House have also been sealed.
Most of the roads on the main procession route have been closed for 3 days.
