Tickets for Pakistani Gulf-bound labours get expensive, here is why

In a bid to meet its tax collection target, the government of Pakistan has decided to impose excise duty on air-tickets for passengers traveling to Gulf countries.
The duty of Rs5000 will be implemented on those passengers who are travelling on labour visa, the notification read.
The duty was imposed under clause (b) of serial number 3 of the first schedule of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, by the Federal Board of Revenue.
It is worth mentioning here that the government has already jacked up the FED on the international flights in the budget 2024-25. Tickets also jacked up to 150 per cent.
