Imam, Fakhar likely to make Pakistan comeback

05 November, 2024 16:05

Pakistan opening batters Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq are likely to make Pakistan comeback in the upcoming South Africa series.

The Men in Green will play three ODIs, the same number of T20Is and a two-match Test series as part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.

The duo was dropped from ongoing Australia series as well as were snubbed from the new central contract.

However, recent top-order struggle, means they are once again in contention to make Pakistan comeback.

Both batters were struggling with fitness issues, the same reason was given by the selectors behind their recent snub.

Imam-ul-Haq has a strong ODI resume having played 72 ODI matches with an impressive average of 48.27.

His last appearance in the fifty-over format was against South Africa during the 2023 World Cup.

The T20I matches are scheduled to take place in Durban, Centurion, and Johannesburg from December 10th to 14th, followed by the ODI series in Paarl, Cape Town, and Johannesburg from December 17th to 22nd.

The two Tests, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, will be held from December 26th to 30th in Centurion and January 3rd to 7th in Cape Town.
