US Muslims disappointed by Trump’s pro-Israel cabinet picks

16 November, 2024 17:10

American Muslim leaders who supported Republican Donald Trump to protest against the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s war on Gaza and attacks on Lebanon are now deeply disappointed by his Cabinet pick.

Rabiul Chowdhury, a Philadelphia investor who chaired the Abandon Harris campaign in Pennsylvania and co-founded Muslims for Trump said that the newly-elected president has won because of them and they are not happy with his Secretary of State pick and others.

He continued that Muslim support for Trump helped him win Michigan and may have factored into other swing state wins, strategists believe.

Donald Trump has named Republican senator Marco Rubio who is a staunch supporter of Israel for Secretary of State.

Earlier this year, Marcho Rubio had said that he would not call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Unlike every other recent president, Donal Trump has never committed to a fully sovereign, independent Palestinian state.

Trump leads a Republican Party so pro-Israel that some of its local offices handed out Israeli flags alongside Trump yard-signs — a far cry from President Joe Biden, whose support for Israel faced fierce criticism from the left of his Democratic Party.
