India lift family rule for one Champions Trophy match
The Board for Control of Cricket in India on Tuesday lifted family rule for only one match in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
According to the BCCI, the Indian players can bring their families for blockbuster tie between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on February 23.
Under the guidelines, which were issued after India’s defeat against Australia, families are not allowed during the tour.
The new guidelines aim to restructure team management, outline future strategies, and introduce revised travel policies.
Tough, the players boarded the flight to Dubai without their family members, as the board denied them the luxury of having their spouses and loved ones present throughout the tournament.
However, for the much-anticipated game, the BCCI has reconsidered its stance.
The board is now mulling over allowing players’ families to attend at least one game during the Champions Trophy 2025.
Meanwhile, sources reveal that BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has been in communication with a senior board official regarding the family travel issue.
