New rules for birth certificate, Emirates ID of UAE residents’ newborn babies
All foreign nationals, including Pakistanis, living in the UAE must obtain a birth certificate and Emirates ID for their newborns within the specified time to avoid fines and complications.
Birth Registration Process
According to UAE regulations, parents must register their child’s birth within 30 days. The child takes the father’s nationality if the parents have different nationalities.
Required Documents for Birth Certificate
Parents need to submit the following documents to the hospital or relevant health authority:
- Marriage certificate (attested and translated into Arabic if needed)
- Passports and residence visas (original and copies of both parents)
- Birth notification and discharge summary from the hospital
After obtaining the birth certificate, expatriates must get it attested by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Birth certificates from Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) are considered equivalent to the Ministry of Health seal.
Emirates ID for Newborns
UAE residents must apply for their newborn’s Emirates ID and residence visa within 120 days of birth. If the residence visa is not finalized within this period, a fine of AED 100 per day will be charged, and the baby will not be allowed to exit the UAE.
Expatriate parents need to complete this process on time to avoid legal issues and financial penalties.
