There will be two Ramazans in a year, here’s why

24 February, 2025 19:32

The holy month of Ramazan is almost a week away and Muslims around the world are busy preparing for the holy month these days.

But did you know that after a few years, Muslims around the world will welcome Ramazan twice a year?

Yes! this is going to happen in the next few years when Muslims around the world will once again be able to experience the holy month twice a year.

This happens every 33 years and according to astronomical calculations, Muslims around the world will welcome Ramazan twice in 2030, due to the 11 to 12 days less duration of the lunar year than the solar year.

Hassan Ahmed Al-Hariri, chief executive of the Dubai-based Astronomy Group, says that from the perspective of the lunar calendar, ramadan is not surprising because the lunar month moves 10 to 11 days every year.

The first Ramazan is expected to start on January 4, 2030 and the second Ramazan on December 26, 2030, so in 2030, Muslims around the world will observe 36 fasts in a year.
