Afghan batter creates history in Champions Trophy

Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran became the highest run-scorer in the Champions Trophy.

In the important group B match at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Afghanistan gave England a target of 326 runs to win, in the match Afghanistan scored 325 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs.

Ibrahim Zadran scored 177 runs off 146 balls, which included 12 fours and 6 sixes.

Zadran has become the highest run-scorer in the Champions Trophy, surpassing legends like Nathan Astle, Ben Duckett, Sourav Ganguly and Andy Flower.

Ben Duckett scored 165 runs against Australia in the current Champions Trophy, Nathan Astle scored 145 not out against the United States in 2004.

Former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower scored 145 runs against India in 2002, while former Indian batsman Sourav Ganguly scored 141 runs against South Africa in 2000.
