UAE residence visa renewal now takes just one minute!

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in the United Arab Emirates has introduced an innovative digital platform that enables residents to renew their visas in just one to two minutes.

This AI-powered system, called Salama, streamlines the renewal process, allowing residents to not only update their visas but also instantly download the updated document. With this advancement, processing time has been drastically reduced from several hours to just a few minutes.

How the UAE Visa Renewal Process Works

Once a user logs into the Salama platform, it automatically retrieves essential applicant details, including visa status, dependent information, and the remaining validity of their permit. The applicant then selects the desired renewal duration, and the request is processed instantly—significantly speeding up the renewal process for dependents as well.

According to a UAE-based official, the service is currently available for residence visa renewals. However, it is expected to expand soon to include visitors, tourists, and other visa types.

“In future phases, the service will also be made accessible to companies through the smart channel and the GDRFA DXP application. Our goal is to keep evolving with AI and technological advancements,” the official stated.

This initiative marks a significant step toward digital transformation, making visa renewals more efficient and accessible for UAE residents.
