How was Jaffar Express hijacked?

11 March, 2025 18:36

Terrorists attacked the Jaffar Express near Ab Gum area in Machh, Balochistan and taken 450 passengers hostage, which threatens large-scale damage.

Reports suggest that the terrorists executed their ambush with military-like precision. They first detonated explosives along the railway tracks, forcing the train to halt inside a tunnel. As the chaos unfolded, they unleashed a barrage of gunfire, striking terror among the passengers before methodically taking control of the train.

Eyewitnesses recount that a group of six heavily armed militants initiated the attack, indiscriminately firing upon the compartments, causing pandemonium. The train’s driver, among the first targets, sustained critical injuries as the attackers sought to paralyze any immediate response. Several passengers were also injured amid the gunfire.

How was the train hijacked?

Upon receiving distress signals, security forces and law enforcement agencies promptly swung into action. With the sheer number of captives involved, paramilitary forces strategically cordoned off the entire vicinity, aiming to neutralize the threat without exacerbating civilian casualties.

The Balochistan administration swiftly declared a state of emergency across hospitals in Quetta and Sabi, bracing for potential casualties. Meanwhile, sporadic explosions reverberated through the train, amplifying fears of further hostilities.

Escalating Security Measures Across Balochistan

In the aftermath of this harrowing incident, authorities have halted the movement of all major railway services across Balochistan, fearing additional strikes. Simultaneously, stringent security advisories have been issued for all road-bound transportation networks, urging heightened vigilance.

Government spokesperson Shahid Rand confirmed that reinforcements, including ambulances, security forces, and an emergency response train, had been swiftly dispatched to the crisis site. However, he noted that difficult mountainous terrain has hampered immediate access, complicating the rescue efforts.

As the situation unfolds, the nation watches with bated breath, hoping for a swift resolution to a crisis that has once again underscored the volatile security landscape of the region.
