Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) is responsible for announcing the Eidul Fitr holiday schedule for all federal schools in Islamabad.
Eidul Fitr 2025 – Expected Dates
Eidul Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramazan, and its exact date depends on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. The final decision will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which is set to meet on March 30, 2025 (Ramazan 29).
Possible Holiday Scenarios
Scenario 1: Eid on March 31 (Monday)
- If the Shawwal moon is sighted on March 30, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on March 31 (Monday).
- Public holidays: March 31 to April 2 (Monday to Wednesday).
- With Saturday and Sunday (March 29-30) included, this results in a five-day break.
Scenario 2: Eid on April 1 (Tuesday)
- If the moon is not sighted on March 30, Eid will start on April 1 (Tuesday).
- Public holidays: April 1 to April 3 (Tuesday to Thursday).
- If Monday, March 31, is also declared a holiday, students may get a six-day break when combined with the weekend.
Final Decision on Holidays
The Federal Directorate of Education will confirm the official holiday schedule based on the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s announcement.
Students and parents are advised to stay updated with official notifications regarding the final holiday dates.
