This is in reference to the editorial (May 13 ) on the issue of the illegal charged parking mafia that has taken over many areas of Karachi. They charge each vehicle.
Rs 50-100 and do not issue a receipt. This problem is mainly faced by the people that lived in old city areas , including downtown (Saddar). Most of these people are stationed without any authority, as they are not part of the municipal corporation.
We are already paying heavy taxes, and if it was not enough, this parking mafia collects money in the name of the government. It is getting difficult to park vehicles at any place in Karachi, especially near hospitals, markets, and other busy areas.
On my recent visit to the mobile market . I parked my motorcycle outside the shop.
Suddenly an unauthorized person came and asked to pay Rs50 as a “parking fee.”
When the citizen asked for a receipt in return, he started making excuses. The government needs to pay attention to this problem, which is increasing rapidly day by day.
