Mehboob Ali from Remote Arandu Village Summit Gasherbrum I

Skardu: In a proud moment for Baltistan and Pakistan, climbers Mehboob Ali and Abbas Ali from the remote Arandu village in Shigar Valley have successfully summited Gasherbrum I (G1), which stands at 8,068 meters.

The duo was part of the Elite Exped team, led by world-renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja (Nims Dai). Also on the team was Sheikha Asma Al Thani of the Qatar royal family, marking a remarkable international collaboration on one of the world’s most challenging peaks.

The achievement is being celebrated across the region, especially in Skardu, where friends and family cut a celebration cake to honor the climbers. Supporters traveled from Askole, the last village in the Braldo region, to join in the joyous moment.

This successful summit highlights not only the courage and determination of these young Pakistani mountaineers, but also brings attention to the hidden talent in Pakistan’s remote valleys. Their journey from Arandu to one of the world’s highest peaks is a shining example of selfless dedication and is being celebrated by the global mountaineering community.
