How Much House Building Advance Can Govt Employees Receive in 2025?

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government has issued a long-anticipated clarification on the rules governing house building advances for federal employees, generating considerable interest across public sector offices.

According to the latest notification released by the Ministry of Finance, employees serving in grades 1 to 16 are entitled to receive an advance equivalent to 36 months of their basic salary, while those in grade 17 and above, officially designated as “officers,” are eligible for an advance amounting to 24 months of salary.

The ministry emphasized that the processing of all such applications will be carried out strictly in accordance with the Federal Government Receipts and Payment Rules, 2025, to maintain transparency and procedural uniformity.

This official clarification draws a clear distinction between “government staff” and “officers,” resolving the ambiguity that had long surrounded the eligibility and extent of advances under the scheme.

For employees intending to construct or purchase residential property, the directive represents a significant financial relief, reinforcing their understanding of the benefits available under the revised framework.
