PTI Rally in Karachi Causes Major Traffic Jam Across City
Today’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) gathering has caused severe traffic congestion across Karachi, turning the day into a major ordeal for commuters.
Police vehicles have been stationed at all key routes leading to Numaish Roundabout, effectively sealing off the area. The traffic gridlock extends far beyond the rally venue, impacting multiple parts of the city.
Rashid Minhas Road, a major artery, has come to a standstill with long queues of vehicles. Police units have also been deployed near the Federal Urdu University’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal campus on University Road, where heavy traffic congestion continues. Sir Shah Suleman Road near Hassan Square and the stretch from Ghareebabad to Karsaz are similarly jammed, with citizens reporting travel times of two kilometers taking nearly two hours.
The strict security measures implemented for the political rally have added to the hardships faced by Karachi residents.
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi released a video message from Karachi, accusing the Sindh government of obstructing PTI’s public gathering at Jinnah Bagh. “The people of Sindh gave us respect, but the Sindh government did not honour Sindh’s traditions, including the respect for the topi and ajrak,” Afridi stated. He further claimed that roads to Jinnah Bagh had been deliberately blocked to hinder PTI supporters.
“All routes to Jinnah Bagh have been closed, but despite this, our workers and supporters are reaching the venue in the form of rallies,” Sohail Afridi said. He assured that the rally would proceed regardless of restrictions, adding, “The people of Karachi should reach the venue. The jalsa will take place and it will happen at all costs.”
The situation around Jinnah Bagh remains tense as PTI supporters continue to make their way to the venue amid road closures and heightened security.
