US National Security Adviser lauds Pakistan efforts for maintaining peace in Middle East and South Asia.

National Security Adviser Robert O’ Brien made these remarks during his meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Washington DC.

He also acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution to efforts for achieving a peaceful political settlement in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Shah Mahmood Qureshi conveyed Pakistan’s concern that instability in the Middle East would affect the neighborhood and the global economy.
He stressing the need for de-escalation and dialogue.
The foreign minister expressed Pakistan’s willingness to play its role for peace in the region.
Moreover, he also referred to the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir.
The Foreign Minister asked United States to urge India to end its lockdown in the occupied territory.
He asked the NSA Brien to urge India to refrain from escalation along the Line of Control and implement UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
He further asked US to urge India to let Kashmiris exercise their right to self-determination.

Foreign Minister of Pakistan’s US visit

Pakistan FM briefs Pompeo on meetings with Saudi and Iran officials during his recent visits to those countries.  

According to Radio Pakistan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to play its due role in de-escalating prevailing tensions and promote peace in the Middle Eastern region.

He expressed these views while talking to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington today.

Furthermore, the two leaders exchanged views on matters pertaining to Pak-US bilateral cooperation, regional security situation and Afghan peace process.
