04 May, 2024 08:56

Students in most of the American universities have announced that they will continue to protest in favour of the Palestinians even during the summer vacations, making it clear that the camps will not be evacuated even during the holidays.

Protests at US universities against the Gaza war are likely to continue for months as student organizations say they will not vacate campuses after recent exams and that protests will continue into the next semester.

On the other hand, the action of the police against the protesters is also ongoing as the US police have started demolishing the protest camps of students in New York University. The number of students arrested across the country has increased to more than 2,200.

The president of the University of Chicago has also said that the protest camp in favour of the Palestinians will not be tolerated.

On the other hand, a series of student protests against the Israeli atrocities on Gaza continues in the universities of different countries including America, Canada, France and Australia.

Classes were canceled at Columbia University in the United States after a police officer fired to disperse the protesters. 282 people were arrested during two days at Columbia University and City College of New York.

A person who drove a car towards pro-Palestine protesters at the University of Portland in the United States was detained.

The Emory University protesters have announced that they will not end their protest to express solidarity with the Palestinians. The number of protest camps set up to express solidarity with the Palestinians has reached 80 across the United States.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch, while condemning the violence and arrests of students, has said that the university administration should not abuse their powers to suppress peaceful protests. US President Biden has also appealed to the protesters to remain peaceful.

It should be noted that the students are demanding the severance of financial relations with Israeli companies associated with educational institutions.
