21 March, 2024 09:58

It looks like Usman Khan is finally about to get his short at the Pakistan cricket team as he is likely to be included in the 25-member pool for a training camp at Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul.

The camp will commence from March 25 ahead of the five-match New Zealand series in April.

The Pakistan Cricket Board would make a formal announcement on Thursday in this regards after the approval of the PCB chairman.

It is unlikely, all-rounder Imad Wasim to get a call for the camp as he hasn’t taken his retirement back.

He was adjudged player of the match in all three knock out games while representing Islamabad United.

A similar stance is held regarding retired fast bowler Mohammad Amir.

Meanwhile, Multan Sultans batter Usman Khan is likely to be invited for the camp after his impressive show in the HBL PSL 9. He became the first batter to score two centuries in a single edition of the tournament.

The right-hander ended up scoring 430 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 164.12. It is up to him to decide whether, he wants to attend the camp or not.

He had earlier mentioned his ambition to play for UAE but he has still got 14 months left to qualify for the UAE team.

The decision to include him in Pakistan squad will be made after his participation in the camp.

Moreover, Mehran Mumtaz and Abrar Ahmed are also likely to be part of the camp.
