Jeffery Shaun King, the US writer and activist and his wife Rai King have embraced Islam on the first day of the holy month of Ramazan.

The couple, on Monday, pronounced a testament of faith, known as Shahadah. The proceeding, broadcast live over Instagram, conducted under the guidance of US Muslim scholar Omar Suleiman, who is Shaun King’s friend for over 10 years.

Shaun King, 44, credited his decision to embrace Islam to the suffering, pain and trauma the People of Gaza had undergone during the past 6 months.

Wearing a Palestinian garment keffiyeh he addressed the crowd, saying it has touched me in the most profound ways to see people right now in the most dangerous, traumatic place on the planet.

The US author added that the faith and devotion of Gazans to Islam has not only opened his heart but has opened the hearts of millions of people around the world.

He has been vocal about his support for the people of Palestine against Israel’s war on besieged Gaza.

He has regularly been uploading posts highlighting sufferings of Gazans on social media since Oct 7. He demanded an end to Israeli’s attacks on Gaza.

The author also claimed that he had worked with Hamas to release two US citizens Natalie Raanan and her mother Judith Tai Raanan. However, the family denied the King’s claim.
