We know what illegal is happening in Karachi: CJP

Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa has remarked that they know what is happening illegally in Karachi.

The top judge made these remarks hearing a plea concerning commercialization of Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road at the Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry today.

The court asked the builder’s lawyer that whom they paid the commercialization fee of the plot? To which, the lawyer replied that the commercialization fee of the plot has been given to the master plan department.

The court asked who has been given the money, where are the receipts? The lawyer of the builder said that money has been given to KMC and others and sought time to submit the receipts. To which,  Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa remarked that the builder has constructed a 22-storey building but there are no receipts.

On this occasion, the petitioner’s lawyer said that Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road cannot be commercialized. The court directed the petitioner to submit the record of payment for commercialization of the building.

The court also issued notices to the Master Plan Department, KMC and Clifton Cantonment Board and sought the records of the commercialization of Chaudhry Khaliq-ul-Zaman Road at the next hearing. The court ordered the parties to submit the complete records on April 25.
