Rain expected in Punjab and Islamabad from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted in Punjab and Islamabad from February 19 to 21, as per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

This weather system is expected to end the prolonged dry spell, with snowfall anticipated in the upper regions. A frontal system is likely to enter northern Pakistan on February 19 and last until February 21.

PMD predicts rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan, including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, and Shigar. Similar conditions will impact Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur on February 19 and 20.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience rain and thunderstorms in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat on February 19 and 20.

Punjab and Islamabad are expected to witness rain and windstorms from February 19 to 21, with snowfall in Murree and Galliyat. Rain is predicted in Islamabad, Potohar, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh on February 19 and 20.

Light rain may also affect Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and Bahawalnagar on February 19.

In Balochistan, rain and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over the hills, are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, and Musakhel on February 18 and 19. Sindh will remain mostly dry, but gusty winds could impact coastal areas.

The Met Office has cautioned about potential road closures and slippery conditions due to heavy snowfall in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, and Neelum Valley from February 19 to 21.

Hailstorms may also occur in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Kashmir on the night of February 19 and early February 20.
