Karachi Weather Update: Stay Cool and Hydrated as City Braces for Extreme Heat

20 April, 2025 10:25

Karachi is experiencing another wave of intense heat, with temperatures soaring and little relief in sight. As the sun beats down on the city, residents are being urged to take precautions and stay hydrated. Here’s a detailed look at today’s Karachi Weather Update.

Current Conditions

As of now, Karachi’s temperature stands at 34°C, with a RealFeel® of 37°C — a clear indicator of how hot it truly feels in the sun. Despite the heat, humidity remains low at just 16%, making the air feel slightly drier than usual. Winds from the north-northwest are blowing at 11 km/h, offering minimal relief. Visibility is limited to 5 km, and the UV index is already high at 7, requiring sun protection for those heading outdoors.

Daytime Forecast: Extreme Heat Ahead

Maximum temperatures are likely to rise during the day up to 40°C, while RealFeel® indicates 41°C, heat index at 38°C, and indeed very hot and less humid, shining bright sunshine, with wind speeds increasing throughout the afternoon. Gusts may reach up to 41 km/h, especially from the west-northwest. It remains bright with no cloud cover at 0 per cent, meaning that there is no protection from the sun at all. The UV index will peak at 11 – classified as extreme, so sunscreen, hats, and staying indoors during peak hours are strongly advised.

Tonight’s Outlook: Clear Skies, Poor Air Quality

By nightfall, temperatures will drop to 22°C, with a RealFeel® of 23°C. The skies will stay clear, with no precipitation expected. However, air quality is expected to be very unhealthy, which could impact individuals with respiratory issues. Winds from the west will continue at 11 km/h, with gusts up to 35 km/h.

This Karachi weather update urges caution as the temperature rises with clearer skies above. Because rain is not expected and the UV index is extreme, today must be spent on sun safety, proper hydration, and minimization of outdoor activity, particularly peak afternoons.

Stay cool, Karachi!
