Rain, Thunderstorms to Lash Country Till May 12
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the country starting today and continuing until May 12.
According to the Met Office spokesperson, a fresh western disturbance is likely to impact the upper and central regions of Pakistan. Weather systems bringing rain and gusty winds are expected to sweep through central and southern parts of the country during this period.
Between May 7 and 11, areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat are expected to experience rainfall accompanied by strong winds. In Punjab, several cities such as Lahore, Sargodha, Jhelum, Attock, and Gujrat may also witness similar weather conditions.
From May 7 to 12, districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa like Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Shangla are likely to be affected by heavy rain and gusty winds. Rainfall is also anticipated in Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, and Malakand.
Cities in Balochistan and Sindh are not exempt, as the weather department also expects scattered thunderstorms and strong winds in various parts of these provinces.
In Punjab, the rainfall has already started in many areas, including Lahore, where the showers have significantly improved the weather. According to the latest data, Pani Wala Talab recorded the highest rainfall at 2 mm, while Gulberg, Upper Mall, and Tajpura each received 1 mm of rain.
