Weather Alert: Cyclone to develop near Karachi – Low Pressure Develops in Arabian Sea Near Karachi

Low-pressure Area forms over Arabian Sea, may turn into cyclone
KARACHI – A weather update from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday confirmed that a low-pressure system has formed over the Arabian Sea.
According to PMD, the system is currently located about 1,075 kilometers southeast of Karachi. Weather experts say this system may intensify into a depression within the next 36 hours.
The weather department added that the system is expected to move in a northern direction in its early stages. However, there is no threat to any coastal area of Pakistan at the moment.
Monitoring Continues from Cyclone Warning Center
The Cyclone Warning Center in Karachi is closely observing the movement and development of this weather system. Officials are providing regular updates to ensure preparedness in case of any change in direction or intensity.
The PMD has also advised fishermen and residents along the coast to stay informed but assured that there is no immediate danger from this system.
Possibility of Cyclone Formation?
Although this is currently just a low-pressure system, it has the potential to turn into a tropical depression, and possibly a cyclonic storm if it strengthens further in the warm waters of the Arabian Sea.
Weather systems like this are common in pre-monsoon season, especially in late May and early June. The PMD will issue alerts if the situation changes in the coming days.
People are advised to keep following official weather advisories and avoid sharing rumors on social media.
