Karachi may get light rain this week

14 June, 2025 13:10

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a new weather forecast, predicting no immediate rain for Karachi and other parts of Sindh, while hot and dry conditions continue to affect the region.

According to the PMD, Karachi will remain under clear to partly cloudy skies, but there is no chance of rain in the next 24 hours. Temperatures are expected to stay high, with the maximum reaching around 39°C today.

The heatwave that has been gripping the city shows no sign of ending soon, despite a slight drop in temperatures over the last few days.

While northern and western regions of the country—such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan—may receive thunderstorms and isolated showers, Karachi and other southern areas like Hyderabad and interior Sindh are likely to stay dry and extremely hot.

The PMD has urged people in heat-affected areas to take precautions:

  • Avoid going outside during peak heat hours

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Take special care of children, the elderly, and sick individuals

The department also warned about climate instability, noting that sudden dust storms, heavy winds, or extreme heat could become more common due to changing weather patterns.

People are advised to stay updated with official weather alerts, avoid standing near trees or power lines during storms, and be ready for possible electricity or travel disruptions in case of extreme weather.

For now, Karachiites should prepare for continued heat and no rain, while keeping an eye on any future changes in the forecast.
