Monsoon Rain Begins in Karachi; Cool Winds Follow as City Braces for More Showers

Karachi – June 16, 2025: Rainfall began Monday evening in areas along Super Highway and Bahria Town Karachi, offering much-needed relief from the intense heat. Cool winds followed the showers, making the weather pleasant and breezy.

As clouds gathered over the city, the Pakistan Meteorological Department also issued a rain forecast for the coming days. With the arrival of the monsoon season, heavy rainfall is expected to continue in different parts of the city.

Following the weather alert, Karachi Airport administration has initiated monsoon preparations. According to sources, teams have been directed to remain on standby to manage any emergency during the rain spell.

All airlines and aviation companies operating at Karachi Airport have been instructed to park aircraft in safe areas. Extra precautions are being taken for smaller planes and helicopters, with orders to secure their wings with weights.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has also advised operational staff to take special measures to ensure safe flight operations during expected downpours. Officials said the airport is at risk of heavy showers and flooding in surrounding areas.

Rain has affected some traffic flow near Super Highway, but no major damage has been reported so far.
