Karachi Sees Early Monsoon Showers; Heavy Rain Expected

Karachi Weather Alert: Rain Expected from July 1 to July 5, 2025
Karachi witnessed light rain this morning, with showers reported from areas including Defence, Qayyumabad, Mehmoodabad, and eastern localities such as Malir Model Colony and nearby neighborhoods.
Meteorological observations indicate rapid cloud formation in the southern and eastern parts of the city, with expectations that this weather system will extend to most parts of Karachi in the coming hours.
Currently, a strong monsoon system is impacting various regions of Sindh, centered around a low-pressure area over the IndiaKKn state of Kutch.
Over the next 12 to 18 hours, this system is forecasted to move northwestward, affecting Karachi as well as Thatta, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, and Larkana. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of light to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in these areas.
A dense cloud cluster located approximately 200 kilometers south of Karachi over the Arabian Sea is likely to increase rainfall intensity in the coming hours. Rain has already begun in several localities, including DHA Phase 2 Extension, bringing pleasant weather conditions.
Experts note that the circulation over Gujarat and Kutch is intensifying rapidly, which may limit the spread of rain-bearing clouds but increase their intensity. If this system remains active, Karachi could see prolonged and heavier rainfall.
The next 12 hours are critical for assessing the direction and impact of the system. According to specialists, if the clouds from southern parts of the city continue moving inland, Karachi may experience a significant period of rainfall over the next 24 to 36 hours.
