Monsoon rains were reported in various regions of the country over the past 24 hours with PMD issuing alert for more rains across various regions.

Further Rainfall Predicted
According to the Met Office on Sunday, rain and strong winds are expected in multiple areas over the next 24 hours. These include AJK, north-east Punjab, the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the Potohar region, and upper KP. Isolated heavy downpours are also possible.
Additionally, thundershowers with strong winds are likely in some parts of central and south Punjab, as well as in north-eastern and southern Balochistan, and southern and south-eastern Sindh.
The weather department also announced that a second spell of monsoon rains is expected to begin across the country starting July 5.
NDMA Issues Precautionary Alert
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued an alert on Saturday, warning of heavy rainfall throughout much of the country over the next 24 to 48 hours. The authority cautioned that the rains could cause landslides in mountainous areas and urban flooding in cities.
An NDMA spokesperson noted that a combination of glacial melting and heavy rainfall could lead to flooding in Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, and Kurram.
In GB, specific areas identified as high-risk for potential glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) include Badswat, Hanarchi, Tarsat, Hundur, and Darkot, where a rapid increase in water levels is expected.
Urban flooding is also anticipated in several cities of AJK, such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, and Kotli. Major urban centers including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Kasur, and Mandi Bahauddin have also been listed among areas vulnerable to flooding.
The NDMA has called on the public and local authorities to adopt urgent precautionary measures.
