Karachi may witness light rain tonight: PMD

05 July, 2025 11:37

Karachi, July 5, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that light rain or drizzle is expected in Karachi today. Early in the morning, areas like Malir and Model Colony received scattered showers. More light rain could fall in different parts of the city, especially during night and early morning hours.

According to the Met Office, the weather will remain partly cloudy and humid for the next 24 hours. The temperature may rise to 35°C during the day. The lowest temperature recorded in the morning was 29.5°C.

Humidity levels are high at 79%, making the weather feel warmer and sticky. However, southwest sea breeze is blowing at 10 km/h, offering some relief to the city’s coastal regions.

On Friday, PMD also warned of high humidity and warm weather across most of Sindh and Balochistan on Sunday. However, there is a chance of light rain or drizzle in Karachi and Hyderabad, particularly during the early or late hours.

In a separate warning, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued an alert through its National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC). It said that a strong monsoon system along with a westerly wave will affect parts of Pakistan from July 6 to July 10.

The warning mentions the risk of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and thunderstorms in various regions. The public has been advised to stay alert and follow safety guidelines. People living in low-lying or flood-prone areas should take special precautions.

Residents are also encouraged to stay tuned to official weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during rain. Emergency kits and safety plans should be prepared in case of sudden weather changes.
