08 July, 2025 16:16

ISLAMABAD – Murree has been gripped by continuous rainfall and thick fog over the past two days, leading to travel disruptions and raising significant safety concerns for both residents and tourists.

In light of the worsening weather conditions, the district administration has released a set of safety advisories. Locals and visitors are strongly urged to avoid streams and low-lying areas due to the heightened risk of flash floods.

Authorities have also advised against unnecessary travel and emphasized the importance of using fog lights while driving in rainy and foggy conditions.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), more rain accompanied by strong winds is expected in various regions, particularly in the northern parts of the country. The department has also warned of potential landslides in hilly areas, with Murree identified as a vulnerable zone.

Tourists have been instructed to stay in safe locations and strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by local authorities.

As the current weather system is expected to persist, officials are calling for increased caution and preparedness to mitigate the impact of possible natural hazards.
