Heavy rainfall is expected in different parts of Pakistan from today until August 7, which may bring relief from the current humid weather, as reported by national media.
On Sunday night, light and intermittent rain was observed in various areas of Islamabad, while some parts of Karachi experienced light rain or drizzle.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain may occur in areas including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Experts say Balochistan is likely to receive heavy rainfall on August 6. Meanwhile, in coastal areas of Sindh, the sky will stay partly cloudy with chances of light rain or drizzle.
Due to continued rainfall, the spillways of Rawal Dam have been opened. A low-level flood is also ongoing in the Indus River at Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu, and Sukkur barrages.
The ongoing heavy rains have caused urban flooding in several areas, damaging property and affecting daily life.
In both cities and villages, roof collapses have been reported, resulting in loss of life and damage to homes. People are advised to stay safe and take precautions during this rainy spell.
