Weather Alert: Met Office Predicts More Rainfall in Sindh
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a warning regarding the 11th spell of monsoon rains expected across the province.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in the upper catchment areas of rivers from September 16 to 19, increasing the likelihood of flooding in streams and nullahs, according to a PDMA spokesperson.
Following the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, commissioners, deputy commissioners, and officials from all relevant departments have been instructed to maintain a high state of readiness.
The alert covers the departments of health, irrigation, communications and works, local government, and livestock.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia warned that the monsoon rains might cause flash floods in river tributaries. He urged the public to take necessary safety precautions, avoid gatherings near rivers, and limit travel during severe weather conditions.
In case of emergencies, citizens are advised to contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
