Karachi likely to face cold nights with single-digit temperatures
KARACHI: Nights are expected to become much colder in Karachi as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a drop in temperatures over the weekend.
According to the Met Office, the city’s temperature may fall to single digits, going as low as 9 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday nights. From Thursday onward, nighttime temperatures are likely to stay between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius before dropping further over the weekend.
The cold will feel stronger due to continuous north-easterly winds, which will make the weather feel even colder, especially at night and early in the morning.
Despite the cold spell, the PMD has ruled out any chance of rain in Karachi or other parts of Sindh for the next 10 days. Dry weather is expected to continue across the province, along with cold nights and chilly mornings.
The PMD spokesperson added that a western weather system may affect the upper parts of the country around January 18 or 19, but it is not yet clear whether it will reach Sindh. More details about possible rainfall will be shared later.
Residents have been advised to take precautions as temperatures continue to drop in the coming days.
