Sindh weather: Heatwave worsens as temperatures rise in Chhore and Mithi
KARACHI:Â Hot weather conditions continued to intensify across the province on Saturday, with temperatures rising in several districts.
In different areas, Chhore and Mithi recorded temperatures of around 40°C, while Tando Jam and Thatta reached about 38°C. The weather remained extremely hot across most parts of the region.
In Karachi, the sea breeze that usually provides relief from heat was suspended, making the day hot and uncomfortable. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to stay around 33°C.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had already issued an alert warning about a heatwave in Sindh starting from April 11.
According to the advisory, temperatures may remain 3 to 5°C above normal at night and 5 to 7°C higher than usual during the day across the province.
The NDMA also warned that several districts, including Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana, Jamshoro, Ghotki, Khairpur, Sanghar, Umerkot, and Kashmore, could face prolonged and severe heat conditions.
Similar hot weather may also affect parts of Balochistan and southern Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan.
Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and drink plenty of water to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
