Karachi Likely to Receive Rain and Thunder as Monsoon System Strengthens

KARACHI: Rain with thunder is expected in Karachi on Saturday afternoon or evening, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The weather department said cloudy conditions are likely to continue in the city over the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 36°C, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 29.5°C.

Humidity was recorded at 82%, making the weather feel humid across the city. Sea breezes were blowing at a speed of 8 kilometres per hour.

The PMD said a depression over eastern Madhya Pradesh is likely to move westward during the next 24 to 36 hours. Meanwhile, monsoon currents continue to affect eastern and central parts of Pakistan.

The weather outlook also predicts rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in Sindh on August 1, with isolated areas likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The monsoon system has also been affecting other parts of the country, bringing rain and thunderstorms to several regions.
