The world’s most popular messaging app, WhatsApp, has announced that it will stop supporting various mobile devices running older versions of Google and Apple operating systems.

According to reports, the instant messaging app will stop working on 35 smartphone devices from the end of this year.

The affected devices include phones prominent manufacturers such as Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, Sony, LG, and Apple.

The decision was announced as the company strives to maintain compatibility with a wide range of smartphones, including Android, iOS, and feature phones running alternative operating systems.

The report said that in order to continue using WhatsApp safely, the users must have a device with Android 5.0 (or later) or an iPhone with iOS 12 (or later).
