The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has once again been denied permission to hold a rally in the country’s commercial capital.

The deputy commissioner of Karachi’s District East has denied the permission for the rally for the second time to the PTI.

The party has planned to hold a public meeting at Bagh-e- Jinnah on May 5. The rally was to be organized under the banner of opposition alliance Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan.

After being denied permission, now the PTI has started considering a new date for the rally.

Last month, the Islamabad High Court had directed the authorities of capital territory to allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  to hold public rally.

Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Amir Farooq, while issuing instructions to the district administration, said that they can put conditions for the rally but no one’s right of assembly can be taken away.

The IHC Chief Justice observed that everyone has held public meetings. The administration should settle the rules and regulations and conditions for the rally.

PTI’s lawyer leader Sher Afzal Marwat said that we now want to hold a public meeting on April 6 in Islamabad. To which, the IHC Chief Justice remarked that you (PTI) should only take care that there is no riot during the event.

The state lawyer said that permission was not given for the rally due to security concerns. Earlier, permission given to them was violated. Justice Amir Farooq said that there is no problem in imposing normal conditions and do not impose unusual conditions for the rally.

Justice Amir Farooq further said that the previous chief justice had also been allowing the public gathering.
