Nurse raped by rickshaw driver in Maharashtra

A nurse was allegedly intoxicated and raped by an unidentified rickshaw driver on Monday in India’s Maharashtra.
The 19-year-old, who is a medical student, was on her way home via auto-rickshaw. She was allegedly offered water to drink by the driver.
According to India Today, the victim lost consciousness after drinking the water. The driver allegedly took her to an isolated place and sexually assaulted her.
A complain was field by her parents in the local Police station, who are scanning the CCTV cameras in the area in order to identify and arrest the accused.
Following the incident, nursing community in Ratnagiri and other hospital staff staged a protest outside the hospital demanding death penalty for those responsible for the crime.
The incident comes to light amid nationwide protests demanding justice for a 31-year-old trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered on August 9 at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
