At least 51 dead in Iran coal mine blast, says state TV

A gas blast in a coal mine in Iran’s South Khorasan Province has killed at least 51 people and injured 20 with 24 people still trapped in the mine, state television said.
The TV report said that the incident was caused by a methane gas explosion in blocks B and C of the mine run by the Madanjoo company.
It added that the total number of coalminers in the blocks at the time of the explosion was 70. Iranian state media further said the blast occurred on Saturday at 9pm (1730 GMT).
President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed condolences to the families of the victims. Pezeshkian said in televised comments that he spoke with ministers and we will do our best to follow up.
