Saudi Arabia to introduce 'electric jet' service for pilgrims
Saudi Arabia’s national airline is set to introduce an electric jet service to transport pilgrims to the holy city of Makkah and luxury resorts.
The innovative move aims to bridge the gap between locations without airports or difficult accessibility.
As per the report, KSA has already purchased electric jets from Munich-based Lilium NV, a German firm.
“Our strategy is that it will help in bridging the locations and the cities that don’t have an airport or that are maybe hard to go to,” Saudia communications affairs manager Razan Shaker.
Key Features of the Electric Jets
Sustainable Aviation: The electric jets, purchased from Munich-based Lilium NV, a German firm, offer a low-carbon emission alternative.
Vertical Takeoff and Landing: The jets feature vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, making them ideal for areas with limited airport infrastructure
Capacity and Speed: Each jet can accommodate four to six passengers and fly at 175km/h ¹.
Convenience: Plans include taking off from Fairmont Makkah Clock Royal Tower Hotel’s helipad near the Grand Mosque
