India’s Taj Mahal receives hoax bomb threat mail

Taj Mahal in India’s Agra received a bomb threat on Tuesday that later turned out to be a hoax.

The threat was received through an email by the regional office of Uttar Pradesh Tourism in which the sender threatened to blow up the Taj Mahal.

Upon receiving the threat email, the bomb disposal squad, a dog squad and other teams arrived at the Taj Mahal for investigation, but nothing suspicious was found.

ACP Taj Security Syed Areeb said that the email was received by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism office threatening to blow up the Taj Mahal. We have found nothing as per the email.

He added that the matter is being investigated and the sender of the email is being traced.

Several videos from inside the Taj Mahal premises showed the teams of CISF and Agra Police scanning the area after the threat email.

An official said that the tourism department received the email. Based on that, a case is has been registered at Tajganj police station. Further investigation is being done.

Earlier, a bomb hoax call was received in March 2021. CISF and Taj Suraksha Police personnel then checked the Taj Mahal premises and found nothing.
