Muhammad becomes the most popular name in England and Wales

Muhammad was the most popular name for newborn boys in England and Wales in 2023.

According to data released by the British Office for Statistics (ONS), Muhammad has become the most popular name for boys in England and Wales.

In fact, if the overall list of all newborn baby boy and girl names is reviewed, the name Muhammad came out on top.

It was previously the second most popular name in 2022 and the fifth most popular name in 2021.

Since 2016, the name Muhammad has been in the top 10 names.

According to the data, Muhammad was the most popular name for boys in 4 out of 9 regions in England, while it was ranked 63rd most popular in Wales.

In total, more than 4,600 boys were registered as Muhammad in 2023, thus surpassing Noah.

Noah finished second with 4382 children.

With 3,556 girls named Olivia, it was the third most popular girl name overall, followed by Emilia and Isla in second and third place, respectively.

Note that since 2016, Olivia has been the most popular name for girls.
