A number of major Syrian cities are experiencing food shortages, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in a statement.
Food shortages have been reported in major Syrian cities, including Deir ez-Zor, Damascus, and Hama, the statement said .
It added that the price of bread alone in Idleb and Aleppo has increased by 900 per cent between 27 November and 9 December.
The price of chicken has increased by 119 per cent. Food distribution and access to basic necessities in Quneitra, Manbij and Deir ez-Zor are severely affected.
At least 6,000 families in Tabqa need immediate food.
According to the report, economic instability was also seen as a result of extreme fluctuations in the exchange rate and shops are closed and traders are hoarding commodities.
On top of that, hospitals all over Syria are filled beyond capacity, the UN agency said.
On the other hand, the foreign news agency said that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will visit Turkey on Friday, during which he will meet with his Turkish counterpart and discuss the situation in Syria.
