On Tuesday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned Elon Musk for backing far-right political parties in Europe.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Scholz emphasized that while free speech is protected in Germany and Europe, support for extreme-right ideologies would not be accepted.
His comments were in response to Musk’s recent arm gesture, which some social media users compared to a Nazi salute during a speech celebrating the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.
Musk rejected the claims, calling the comparison “tired” in a post on X. Scholz’s criticism also followed Musk’s endorsement of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, drawing backlash from German officials who accuse him of interfering in national elections.
