Israel released 183 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of three Israeli prisoners.
The fifth phase of prisoner exchange under the Gaza Accord concluded. Hamas, the resistance organization of occupied Palestine, released three Israeli prisoners from Deir al-Balah.
Hamas released 56-year-old Awhad bin Amy, 52-year-old Eli Sharabi and 34-year-old And Levi, who were brought to a specially created stage and then handed over to the Committee of the Red Cross.
Israel also released 183 Palestinian prisoners, including 18 prisoners serving life sentences and 54 long sentences.
On arrival in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian prisoners were given a warm welcome and flower petals were showered.
Israeli prisons also witnessed violent scenes of meeting their loved ones imprisoned for years.
Seven Palestinian prisoners were rushed to hospital after being injured by Israeli military violence and in poor health. Of the 183 Palestinians released from Israeli prisons, 111 were transported to Gaza, where they were warmly welcomed by their relatives.
