Monkey plunges entire Sri Lanka into darkness

Power supply was cut across Sri Lanka, for which a monkey has been blamed.
According to foreign media, the power breakdown in Sri Lanka started around 11:30 pm, which lasted for several hours. During this time, citizens had to face severe difficulties, hospitals had to move to generators in emergency.
Officials said that the power breakdown was caused by a failure at the Ceylon Electricity Board’s grid station in southern Colombo.
Sri Lankan authorities said power supply has been restored in most parts of the country after three hours of efforts, while engineers and other staff are working for a complete restoration.
Energy Minister Kumara Jayakode has blamed a monkey for the disruption in power supply across the country.
He further said a monkey had entered the grid station, causing a breakdown and power outages.
No further details about the monkey were immediately available.
