Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia reject Trump’s plan to expel Palestinians

12 February, 2025 08:23

Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia rejected US President Donald Trump’s plan to expel Palestinians.

According to foreign media reports, Egypt has announced a comprehensive plan to rebuild Gaza without expelling Palestinians. Egypt’s foreign ministry said it looked forward to cooperating with U.S. President Donald Trump to reach a comprehensive and just peace in the region.

According to state media, Egypt rejected a proposal to allocate space for Palestinian citizens.

Jordan’s King Abdullah, on the other hand, said that in a meeting with US President Trump, he reiterated his rejection of the Palestinian migration from Gaza and stressed the basis of a two-state solution.

Jordan’s minister, Kharja, said the Arab-Egyptian plan was to rebuild Gaza without displacing the Palestinian people.

Saudi Arabia’s cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also rejected the forced eviction of Palestinians. The Saudi cabinet meeting condemned Israeli statements about the expulsion of Palestinians. The Saudi cabinet described the two-state solution as the basis for lasting peace in the region.

Trump said, “I see a long-term ownership position in Gaza, we will develop Gaza, we will give jobs to the people of the region, we will settle the citizens.”

Trump’s announcement has prompted the United Nations and several countries around the world to oppose the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza and called for a two-state solution.

Later, Donald Trump said, “I think Jordan will be ready to take refugees.” Jordan and Egypt’s aid will be cut if they don’t take in refugees.
